The Embassy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) hosted a colourful celebration to mark Saudi Arabia’s 89th National Day at the Indera Samudera Grand Hall of The Empire Hotel & Country Club in Jerudong last night.
Guest of honour, representing the Government of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam was Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Abdul Mokti bin Haji Mohd Daud along with his spouse Datin Hajah Zalina binti Haji Omar.
Last night’s celebration began with the singing of the national anthems of Brunei Darussalam and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia followed by the recitation of verses of Al-Quran by Muhammad Ali from the Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Damit Girls Arabic Religious Secondary School.
The ceremony then continued with the recitation of Doa by Ustaz Al Sayyed Abdul Kadir Zaghloul from the Hassanal Bolkiah Boys Arabic Secondary School.
A cake-cutting ceremony by the guest of honour and spouse accompanied by Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Brunei Darussalam Emad bin Abdul Aziz bin Saad AlMuhanna, Dean of the Diplomatic Corps and Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to Brunei Darussalam Sheikh Ahmed bin Hashel bin Rashed bin Hashel Al-Maskari and Ambassador of the State of Kuwait to Brunei Darussalam Salah Mubarak Musleh Al-Mutairi marked the highlight of last night’s celebration.
The night also saw a presentation of a video clip on the C20 Leaders’ Summit in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and a live performance by local artistes of Canang Seri Mahkota Group.
Prior to leaving the event, the guest of honour and spouse were ushered for a tour of the exhibition featuring a display of a tent, books, posters, Henna experience and Pop-up Photo Booth.
