Elderly jailed for flouting QO

The Magistrate’s Court yesterday sentenced a 65-year-old local woman to two months’ imprisonment for breaching the terms of her self-isolation notice.

The court heard that Hajah Noorliah binti Haji Noordin visited Pengkalan Batu Health Centre seeking medical attention on August 12 after experiencing persistent coughs. Showing COVID-19 symptoms, a swab test had to be taken. Consequently, a five-day self-isolation notice was issued, requiring the defendant to remain at home throughout. She was prescribed medication and reminded to wait for the swab test results.
