The Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports through Community Development Department (JAPEM) handed over financial assistance to eight families whose homes were destroyed by fire and other disasters.
The presentation was held at the ministry’s Citra Budaya Hall yesterday.
The donations from His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s Government were presented by Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Nazmi bin Haji Mohamad.
According to JAPEM, six families who received the financial assistance were victims of fire at Kampong Telanai, Kampong Bebatik Kilanas, Kampong Tamoi Tengah and Kampong Madewa while one family was affected after their house collapsed in Kampong Saba Laut.
One family affected by flooding in Kampong Sungai Teraban, Belait District also received financial assistance.
No injuries were reported in the separate incidents.
