The importance of scaling teaching methods was highlighted during a conversation between educators and entrepreneurs recently, with participants urging educators to focus on more meaningful learning experiences, moving beyond purely results-driven or academic approaches.
The Young Entrepreneurs Association Brunei (YEAB) held its latest OpenChat session, ‘Edupreneur Teach Tribe’, on Saturday in Kiulap.
The session brought together educators, edupreneurs and aspiring entrepreneurs to discuss critical topics in the education industry.
The discussion kicked off with a focus on gamified training, a growing trend in education.
Participants examined the increasing reliance on gamification in training environments, recognising its value but stressing the importance of balance.
It was widely agreed that while gamification can enhance engagement, it must be carefully integrated with traditional face-to-face learning to ensure comprehensive educational outcomes.
The session also explored how to deliver high-value workshops. Participants reflected on the challenges of ensuring that workshops, particularly those led by local professionals, are perceived to provide as much value as those conducted by foreign experts.
Additionally, participants discussed overcoming obstacles such as limited tech access and Wi-Fi for students, strategies for opening tuition businesses, and effective teaching techniques for primary and secondary students. The session provided a platform for sharing insights and strategies, fostering a collaborative spirit among educators and business professionals.
The YEAB OpenChat series will continue to provide a space for open dialogue on industry-specific challenges and opportunities, supporting the growth of entrepreneurs in Brunei.
