Students from Halalan Thayyiban Student Society (HTSS) of Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) organised a one-day Halal EduCare programme recently in conjunction with the Day of Action 2020 campaign at the university’s multipurpose hall.

Held in conjunction with the International Volunteer Day, 39 children took part in the programme ranging from six to 12 years. The programme began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah led by HTSS Religious Unit Head Mohd Faizul Amin.

The programme, led by Halalan Thayyiban Research Centre Assistant Lecturer Raihana Mohd Raffi, educated children on halal and haram for a day.

An interactive lecture and presentation on the topics was delivered by the Halalan Thayyiban Research Centre Deputy Director Pengiran Dr Hajah Norkhairiah binti Pengiran Haji Hashim.

Other activities included a drawing contest, colouring contest, mass Zohor and Asar prayers, and preparing food hygienically with halal ingredients.

Halalan Thayyiban Research Centre Director Associate Professor Dr Nurdeng Deuraseh presented the prizes.

The programme, in supporting the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports’ initiative in implementing projects or programmes in youth volunteering, aimed to educate participants on halal and haram basic knowledge, especially in food.
