Easyway Basketball were crowned champions in the men’s category of the 5.11 National Basketball League at the Brunei Basketball Association Court in Batu Bersurat on Friday.

The newly crowned winners charged to the title in dominant fashion winning all eight matches in the nine-team tournament.

The league front-runners completed their perfect campaign with victory over Ong Sum Ping in their final group game to finish with a maximum of 16 points.

Easyway head coach Ryan Yusof led the tributes to his all-conquering side. He said, “I’m very happy with my team. The youth listened to instructions and played like how they are supposed to which is a good brand of team chemistry, teamwork and defence.”

The newly crowned champions showed the dominant form which had catapulted them to the title after carrying a 21-8 lead in the first quarter before eventually putting the game out of sight.

Yi’s Nation’s 96-85 win over Yi’s Nation V2 assured them of a runner-up finish with the latter settling for third place.

Easyway Basketball had earlier wrapped up the title in the seventh game of the competition when they bested Team 409.

Ryan’s charges took a giant step towards winning the title following an emphatic 105-70 win over Yi’s Nation V2 in match-day six with their opponents viewed as their final obstacle.

Brunei Basketball Association (BBA) Deputy President Lim Boon Teck presented the prizes.

Organised by BBA, the three-week long tournament provided young players an opportunity to play competitive basketball under the guidance of experienced players and coaches.
