Dubious meat seized during joint operation

Dubious halal chicken and beef totalling nearly 71 kilogrammes as well as sausages were seized during integrated operations in Kampong Perpindahan Lambak Kanan and Kampong Katok ‘B’ recently.

Enforcement personnel of the Halal Food Control Division of the Syariah Affairs Department at the Ministry of Religious Affairs together with Royal Customs and Excise Department personnel seized chicken wings (16.5kg), chicken gizzards (10kg), chicken meat (10kg), goat meat (10kg) and meat bones (24.2kg).

The operation also confiscated 44 packets of undeclared sausages. All the items were taken to the Halal Food Control Division for further investigation.

The division regularly conducts operations and monitor the distribution of provisions to ensure that it passes Chapter 183 of the Halal Meat Act. The agency also reminded the public that every entry of Halal meat into the country must first be permitted by the Brunei Islamic Religious Council.
