The driver of a van yesterday escaped unharmed after a fire broke out from the left tyre of his vehicle at Kampong Negalang, Temburong District.
According to the Fire and Rescue Department (FRD), six firefighters led by ASO Muslim bin Nayan from Bangar Fire Station responded to the incident at around 9.40am.
They found that the fire originated from the left tyre of the van.
The cause of the fire and cost of damages are still under investigation.
The FRD advised the public to ensure that their vehicles are in good condition and to regularly check the wiring.
Road users must ensure that modifications or additions to the electrical system of the engine and car accessories are in accordance with standards, the department added.
The FRD said high electric currents could cause cables to burn, and advised the public to call 995 for any emergency.
