DPMM FC head coach Rene Weber has hinted that his selection for the friendly match against Sabah FA at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium on Monday could be the same line-up in their Singapore Premier League opener against Home United FC.

The Brunei-based outfit announced through their website that they will play the Malaysia Premier League outfit in their final preparations just five days before they begin their competitive season at the same venue.

The newly appointed head coach, whose squad came back from a training tour in Bangkok with two wins out of three games, revealed that he has a clear idea of his starting players.

“I have a big idea about the team and I know more of the players after working with them for more than two months,” said Weber in an interview with the Bulletin after a training session at the Jerudong Mini Stadium yesterday.

“We have played three competitive games in Thailand which has a competitive and strong league. I think we are ready,” the Brazilian added.

The head coach is also hoping for a good season fresh from their Bangkok training tour.

Asked if he has devised a specific strategy for the team, Weber revealed that they have their own strategy to start the match.

“We have already been training in the same way our strategy on how to start to play. Usually I don’t like to change too much game by game but of course if I need to change it for improvement, I can change it.

“The team who go in the field against Sabah FA should be our team who start against Home United FC.”

Weber added that in an event of unforeseen circumstances any changes may be necessary.

“Of course, if something happens I can change. But the idea is we are ready and I have everything prepared,” he added.

The former Brazil under-20 national team manager also expressed his hopes of a good win before the home fans against Sabah.

Asked if he is already familiar with his players’ strengths, the head coach indicated that he has developed a greater understanding about their traits not limited solely to their strengths but also their playing style.

“We also know who to substitute for because it is very important as we have 25 players. We must be ready to change players if anything happens,” the head coach said.

Weber confirmed that there are no injury concerns ahead of the Sabah friendly and hinted that Hendra Azam Idris could be available after he was withdrawn from the starting 11 in the win against Kasetsart FC as precaution.

“Last game, we kept out Hendra because he received a kick but he is ready to play and I hope to put out our main team against Sabah,” he said.
