DPMM FC head coach Jamie McAllister said that their 2-0 victory against Young Lions in the 2024-2025 Singapore Cup will serve as a platform to build on amid their interest to achieve qualification to the semi-finals.
The Gegar Gegar men moved top of Group ‘A’ after collecting four points in two matches, putting them a step closer towards a consecutive appearance in the final four.
“It was a very good performance. I thought we dominated, we were comfortable and scored two very good goals with other opportunities in the counterattack so it was very pleasing with the lads,” the head coach said.
“We got a clean sheet and as a whole, as a group we defended very well.”
He added, “We were very good especially with our first and second contact in our box.“When we had opportunities, we were clinical which is how you win any game.”
Meanwhile, DPMM FC forward Miguel Oliveira highlighted that the victory was a result of their efforts during their training ahead of the match.
“This result is about our training. We made everything that our coach asked for this match,” the striker said.
Oliveira, whose goal helped his side to a 2-0 lead and effectively killed off the tie, heaped praise to Young Lions admitting how hard they trained for the match.
“We trained for this during the week because they play really good.
“I think they are one of the best teams in the league. The result may not show this but they played really good.”
