Don’t forget responsibilities, new student reps told

Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) organised a ceremony for the appointment of the Student Representative Council for 2020/2021 and the dissolution of the 2019/2020 council at UBD’s Inspiring Hall of Student Centre yesterday.

UBD Assistant Vice-Chancellor (Corporate and Administration) Hajah Rubiah binti Haji Yacub was the guest of honour.

Hajah Rubiah advised new council members to understand their duties and responsibilities that will be borne especially in the management of UBD Students’ Association (PMUBD) which includes administration and financial management.

She also expected new members to work closely with UBD, especially with the Student Affairs Section and former student representatives. “Do not ask less and learn to divide time to be fully committed because being a student leader is a heavy responsibility,” she said.

The assistant vice-chancellor also presented certificates of appreciation to former members of UBD Student Representative Council of the 2019/2020. This was followed by the presentation of official appointment letters to the 17 new council members.

Muhd Alaf bin Haji Redwa from the UBD School of Business and Economics was elected president for the second consecutive year.

Earlier, the Dean of Students Saidai bin Haji Hitam thanked the former Student Representative Council members and acknowledged the services and contributions they provided towards the development of PMUBD.
