The Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications held Nuzul Al-Quran and a handover of donations to 29 orphans yesterday.
Minister of Transport and Infocommunications Pengiran Dato Seri Setia Shamhary bin Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Mustapha was present.
The event began with the recitation of Al-Quran verses by qari champion Pengiran Muhammad Adibul Amin bin Pengiran Haji Marjuki. It also saw a religious talk on ‘Loving Al-Quran, Be Kind to Orphans’ by Islamic Da’wah Centre officer Siti Juhaidah binti Haji Bujang.

The Group of Wives of Cabinet Ministers, Deputy Ministers, Permanent Secretaries, Deputy Permanent Secretaries and its Affiliated Members (KI) donated BND5,000 to the National Orphans Fund and BND3,275 for Pusat Bahagia trainees yesterday.
Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Nazmi bin Haji Mohamad received donation for the National Orphans Fund from KI Chairperson II Datin Hajah Nahriah binti Haji Awang Asbi and contribution for Pusat Bahagia from Datin Hajah Kalsom binti Haji Suhaili.
Permanent Secretary (Community) at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports Hajah Nor Ashikin binti Haji Johari, Datin Dr Hajah Norhaslina binti Haji Ramlee and Datin Hajah Binanun binti Haji Bungsu were also present.
Hengyi Industries Sdn Bhd
Hengyi Industries Sdn Bhd (Hengyi) held a donation drive for Kampong Serasa’s underprivileged families and orphans.
Director of General Affairs and Company Secretary Li Peng and Director of Human Resources Alan Goh presented donations worth BND7,000 to eight underprivileged families and 10 orphans at the event at Kampong Serasa Acting Village Head Abdul Hamid bin Haji Zainin’s residence.
The donation drive was part of Hengyi’s corporate social responsibility activities aimed at giving back to the community and instil a culture of giving among its staff.
Muara Maritime Services Sdn Bhd
Muara Maritime Services Sdn Bhd (MMS) donated to 30 underprivileged families from Mukim Serasa-Muara in a charity drive yesterday. Three families will also have minor house repair works done.
The donations in the form of care packages and hampers were mostly sourced from community-based small businesses and non-governmental organisations.
The event was aimed at alleviating the burdens of the recipients and support small businesses and those with special needs.
