Donations flow in for fire victims

In an effort to continue to pay attention and care to the welfare and well-being of the family affected by the recent house fire victims in Kampong Pengiran Bendahara Lama on January 8, 2020.

Kemuda Institute Student Council of both campuses (Belait and Beribi) has organised a donation campaign where they distributed some staple food and everyday needs to the affected families.

Nine families are now being placed in a temporary accommodation provided by Department of Community Development (JAPEM) at Kampong Sungai Akar while four families are presently living at Kampong Pengiran Bendahara Lama. The donation campaign was led by the Student Council representative, Md Aznil Khairuddin bin Haji Kharul Azmi.

All the families involved in the fire incident received donation from Kamuda Institute’s, both Belait and Beribi, also some contributions from Legislative Council member and Penghulu of Mukim Liang Yang Berhormat Haji Abdul Hamid bin Haji Mumin as well from Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam Mosque’s Muslimah group, Jerudong.

The donation was intended to ease their burden and to help them to go through their daily lives before they are granted permanent housing. This initiative aims to encourage the spirit and culture of helping people in needs. This activity also promotes goodwill among the students to come forward moreover contribute their services to charity and community activities.
