The collection of learning devices and SIM cards is an ongoing campaign to support students facing difficulties in accessing online learning, said Minister of Education Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Hamzah bin Haji Sulaiman in a press conference yesterday.
The minister said 261 devices comprising laptops and tablets as well as 400 SIM cards were collected in a donation campaign beginning on August 30 in collaboration with the Ministry of Education (MoE), Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications (MTIC) and the Authority for Info-communications Technology and Industry of Brunei Darussalam (AITI).
The devices will be distributed to the MoE’s list of students.
The minister said, “Last year during the first COVID-19 outbreak, we collected 1,700 devices for students via drive-through collection point, while some delivered to the students directly.
“This year’s campaign is aimed at collecting 5,000 devices to be loaned out to those in need.
“We thank the public for their contributions, which will help the students carry on their studies during the pandemic.”
