Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports organised a Doa Kesyukuran ceremony to commemorate the 16th National Youth Day celebration at the Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) Mosque on Thursday.
Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin was the guest of honour at the event.
The ceremony began with the mass Maghrib prayers led by UBD Mosque Affairs Officer Mohammad bin Haji Bagol followed with the recitation of Surah Yaasiin and Tahlil led by the mosque’s Imam Mohd Amirul Rahmad bin Mohamad.
A recitation of Surah Yaasiin and Tahlil was dedicated to Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Muhammad Jamalul Alam and Al-Marhumah Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Damit binti Al-Marhum Pengiran Bendahara Pengiran Anak Abdul Rahman, the late parents of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, and Al-Marhum His Royal Highness Prince Haji ‘Abdul’ Azim as well as all Muslims who have departed.
The ceremony proceeded with the Doa Kesyukuran, Doa Peliharakan Sultan dan Negara Brunei Darussalam, and prayer to avoid the outbreak of COVID-19 and concluded with mass Isyak prayer. The National Youth Day celebration aims to elevate the youth movement by commemorating the youth with a host of activities.
This year’s celebration carrying the theme ‘Future Ready Youth’, which will take place August at the International Convention Centre, Berakas.
Deputy Minister of Energy Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Matsatejo bin Sokiaw, as the Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Committee of the 16th National Youth Day Celebration 2021, Legislative Council members, permanent secretaries and deputy permanent secretaries also participated.
Youth associations, higher education institution students and alumni, Youth Development Centre (PPB) trainees also attended the ceremony.
