Disaster victims receive Zakat donations

THE Brunei Islamic Religious Council (MUIB) presented Zakat donations to victims of house fires in Kampong Junjongan and collapsed houses in Kampong Saba Darat ‘B’ and Kampong Pekan Lama at the Seroja Room of the Ministry of Religious Affairs yesterday in an effort to ease their burden.

Acting Secretary of MUIB Haji Abdul Aziz bin Haji Akop handed over the donations.

Victims of fires in Kampong Junjongan, Sa’eyah binti Maidin (home owner) received BND200, while Alex Sandra bin Herman (son of home owner), his wife and two children received BND800 as well as school supplies for the two children.

Meanwhile, victims of collapsed houses in Kampong Saba Darat ‘B’, Md Anuar bin Abdullah (home owner), his wife and two children received BND800 as well as school supplies for one of the children who is in primary school.

Victims of collapsed houses in Kampong Pekan Lama, Salamah binti Odik (home owner) received BND200 and Md Suhaimi bin Haji Suhaili (grandson of the home owner) received BND200.

MUIB hoped that the Zakat distribution will ease the burden of the victims and will also be a reminder to be vigilant to avoid such disasters.
