The Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS), through the Community Development Department (JAPEM), yesterday extended financial assistance on behalf of the Government of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam to families who were victims of a recent house fire and extreme weather conditions.
Acting Deputy Director of JAPEM Mirany Floridzah binti Abdul Rahman presented the donations during a ceremony at Citra Budaya Hall of the MCYS building.
The recipients included a family whose house was damaged by fire on July 16 in Kampong Perpindahan Mata-Mata.
Meanwhile, two houses in Kampong Bakut Siraja Muda and Kampong Burong Lepas of the Brunei-Muara District and three houses in Kampong Layong, Kampong Kandang Serambangun and Kampong Panchur Dulit of the Tutong District were damaged by heavy downpours and strong winds on July 10-12.
