THE Director-General of the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) Dr Abdulaziz Othman Altwaijri visited Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) yesterday to discuss on potential collaboration in academic and research fields.
On hand to welcome Dr Abdulaziz for a presentation on UBD at the main administrative building of the campus was UBD Acting Vice-Chancellor Hajah Rubiah binti Haji Yacub and the senior management of the university.
The presentation was conducted by UBD’s Assistant Vice-Chancellor for Global Affairs Dr Joyce Teo Siew Yen in which she highlighted the opportunities for Discovery year and joint research.
This was followed by discussions on potential collaboration between UBD and ISESCO.
Talks during this meeting centred on cooperation between ISESCO and the UBD, particularly cooperation in implementing a number of activities as part of festivities marking the celebration of Bandar Seri Begawan as the 2019 Islamic Culture Capital for Asian region.
Dr Abdulaziz highlighted that the visit reinforces relations between the two academic institutions and is an opportunity to “expand the scope of cooperation” to enhance the future competencies for Bruneian youth.
Following the meeting, Dr Abdulaziz proceeded to UBD’s Botanical Research Centre (BRC) where he went on a walking tour of the nature trail and greenhouses and took time to view the various types of plants that have medicinal uses.
