Dining In The Dark casts light on visual impairment, blindness

The Brunei Darussalam National Association of the Blind (BDNAB) will hold a Dining In The Dark event in conjunction with BDNAB’s 20th anniversary and World Braille Day.

Registration is open until January 22 for the dinner scheduled to be held at Wafa Hotel & Apartment, Annajat Complex, Gadong on February 3.

The event aims is to raise public awareness on vision problems being a major international public health issue. Additionally, it aims to raise funds for the construction of a building for the BDNAB and to finance future BDNAB activities.

World Braille Day is celebrated on January 4 in conjunction with the birthday of Braille creator, Louis Braille. It celebrates Louis Braille’s contribution towards helping the blind and visually impaired around the world.

Agencies around the world use this day to create and awareness of the challenges faced by individuals with visual impairments and to encourage the public and private sectors to open up economic, social and employment opportunities for these groups.
