Digital Technology Week comes to a close

The Brunei Mid-Year Conference and Exhibition 2022 (Brunei MYCE 2022) continued its series of events and activities hosted by agencies yesterday as part of the Digital Technology Week at the International Convention Centre (ICC) in Berakas, jointly organised by the Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications, Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) and InfoCom Federation Brunei.

Brunei Info-Communication Technology Awards (BICTA) Alumni continued their showcase with the theme ‘Connect 2022’ featuring nine past and current BICTA participants’ products and services, alongside roundtable discussions and fireside chats with BICTA Alumni members.

Meanwhile, UTB continued its events with the 4IR Robotic and Coding Conquest 2022 workshops featuring augmented and virtual reality as well as the CIPTA Roadshow.

Brunei Shell Petroleum (BSP) in collaboration with the Google Developer Group (GDG) Brunei and Women TechMakers (WTM) Brunei conducted data science workshop sessions ‘Mind the (Data) Gap! And Exploring Data with Python’.

Brunei MYCE 2022 Digital Technology Week also saw a series of presentations and panel discussions by local and regional experts.

The conference featured a presentation session on ‘The Impact of COVID-19 to the Digital Creative Economy’ by Mahakarya Institute of the Arts Asia Dean Dr Alex Fischer.

The session aimed to educate participants on the technical requirements of digital platform and share the various platforms that arises through the impact from COVID-19, which also include the digital platforms.

The session also created awareness on the ever-changing technology in filmmaking and increase the quality of local content through the advancement of technology.

An introduction to E-Sports Brunei (ESB) and its key objectives was also presented by its representatives, who shared the growth of the e-sports landscape and the opportunities in job creation and further development of local talent to penetrate the international arena.

The conference concluded in the afternoon with four presentations on artificial intelligence (AI) and big data by various specialists, including representatives from EVYD Technology Sdn Bhd, Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD), Think Axis Solutions and Unified National Networks Sdn Bhd (UNN).

The four-day conference attracted over 400 attendees.

The Digital Technology Week ended with a prize presentation for the Instagram Giveaway competition with prizes ranging from a laptop to cash vouchers.
