Digital health tools have the potential to provide remote monitoring and data capture in healthcare, teleconsultations and information exchange and virtual care.
Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar said this at the Precision Public Health Asia 2023 conference held in Singapore from July 12 to 14.
The minister also said, “Digital health tools enable centralisation and consolidation of health data, which can help in policy formulation and health services.”
The conference provided a platform to share and discuss best practices, global experiences and the latest advanced technologies to revolutionise healthcare practices.
Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham earlier also attended the Leadership Forum on Progressing Public Health for Asia which involved sector specialists from ASEAN member states to build awareness and catalyse action in advancing precision public health.
At the forum, the minister highlighted the potential of integrating clinical and laboratory data in precision medicine with behavioural data to improve disease management and prevention, enabling savings on healthcare expenditure.
Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham also shared his views on analytics application, machine learning and artificial intelligence on unstructured data, which will allow the identification of patterns and information that can be used to improve healthcare delivery.
The Leadership Forum on Progressing Public Health for Asia was a follow-up to the ASEAN Digital Public Health Conference previously organised by Brunei Darussalam. – James Kon
