The Department of Economic Planning and Statistics (JPES), Ministry of Finance and Economy, in collaboration with the Temburong District Office held a dialogue session with mukim penghulus and village heads in the Temburong District yesterday to prepare for the upcoming Population and Housing Census (BPP) 2021.
It aims to increase awareness on BPP 2021 and as a platform to strengthen relationship among the JPES, mukim penghulus and village heads in ensuring the smooth implementation of the upcoming census.
Present during the dialogue session was Legislative Council member Yang Berhormat Haji Emran bin Haji Sabtu.
The sixth BPP will be implemented in three stages. The first stage is the house-listing stage by village/area in each district throughout the country from January 20, 2021 to February 21, 2021. The second stage is the e-census implementation from April 20, 2021 to June 21, 2021. The third stage is face-to-face interview from July 20, 2021 to August 2, 2021.
The census will cover all persons, including citizens, permanent residents and temporary residents in the country. Data collected through the BPP 2021 will provide comprehensive information on the population by demographics, social and economic characteristics as well as information on the total stock of living quarters together with basic housing facilities or amenities.
The BPP 2021 presentation was done by BPP 2021 Assistant Superintendent for Temburong District Mohd Edwin Khalid bin Haji Mohd Salleh. A question-and-answer session and sharing of information on field activities were also held.
JPES Director General Hajah Mariah binti Haji Yahya and Acting Temburong District Officer Mohd Amirul Hadi bin Haji Md Tajudin were also present.
