Department of Health Services emerged winners of the Minister of Health Futsal Cup Championship 2020 after defeating Pengiran Muda Mahkota Pengiran Muda Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah (PMMPMHAMB) Hospital Tutong 3-1 in the final at the Multi-Purpose Hall of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex last night.
Goals from Dr Ibrahim, Arif bin Haji Zulkifli and Haji Md Salihuddin wrapped up victory while Sahrol Nizam netted a consolation for the Tutong-based side.
Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha (RIPAS) Hospital and Renal Services Department shared third place as a reward for their run-in to the semi-finals.
The Department of Health Services also dominated the individual accolades with Arif walking away with the tournament’s top scorer after his haul of five goals and Dr Ibrahim Mahmud being named as the Minister of Health Futsal Cup Championship 2020 Best Player.
The group matches were initially contested on February 28 where 13 teams comprising departments and hospitals under the Ministry of Health (MoH) participated.
Organised by the MoH, the tournament aimed to uncover new talent to represent the ministry either in futsal or football.
Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar presented the prizes.
Also present during the final and prize presentation ceremony were Permanent Secretary at the MoH Haji Abdul Manap bin Haji Othman, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Professional) at the MoH Dr Haji Zulaidi bin Haji Abdul Latif and Deputy Permanent Secretary (Policy and Management) at the MoH Haji Maswadi bin Haji Mohsin.
