A delegation of researchers from the Maqasid Syariah Index Group under the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) recently went on a week-long working visit to Malaysian institutions in Johor and Kuala Lumpur.
The delegation visited Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM); Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM); International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM); and Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) for data sharing and exchanges in various fields.
The collaboration provide an overview of the processes, mechanisms, and parties involved in the Malaysian Syariah Index, according to a statement from the Religious Teachers University College of Seri Begawan (KUPU SB).
The researchers also attended meetings and benchmark visits to the Islamic Development Department (JAKIM), Malaysia and Institute of Maqasid Malaysia, agencies also involved in the Malaysian Syariah Index.
The working visit provided guidance and information pertaining to challenges, suggestions and recommendations in the process of implementing the Maqasid Syariah Index.
The delegation also made a courtesy visit to Kuala Lumpur Federal Territories Mufti Datuk Professor Madya Dr Luqman and to Brunei Darussalam High Commissioner to Malaysia Brigadier General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Awang Haji Mahmud bin Haji Saidin @ Haji Md Saidin.
The delegation included KUPU SB Director of Core Knowledge Centre Dr Haji Noralizam bin Haji Aliakbar as head of the researchers’ group and head of delegation; Universiti Brunei Darussalam Adjunct Professor Dr Haji Mohd Rozan bin Dato Paduka Haji Mohd Yunos; KUPU SB representatives Professor Madya Dr Muhd Zahiri bin Awang Mat; Professor Madya Dr Mohd Shahril bin Ahmad Razimi; and KUPU SB Ahlisunnah Wal Jamaah Research and Understanding Centre research officer Mohammad Muslihuddin Syah bin Haji Mustafa. – Rokiah Mahmud
