Defending champions Fuzhou Shiyyi Association basketball team was knocked out of the You-C1000 Basketball Cup on Saturday after suffering a defeat to Easyway basketball team 80-70 in the final of group ‘A’ encounter.
Easyway basketball team needed a win of at least eight points against Fuzhou Shiyyi Association to clinch a spot in the quarter-final.
Easyway captain Jake Chong contributed 23 points while teammate Jon Lim added 16 including three three-pointers.
Fuzhou Shiyyi Association captain Esmund Tan scored 18 points while Lim Wei Liang contributed 25 and Ahmad Termizi had 15.
With the win, Easyway basketball team took second place in the group with TK Tea house in first place.
The first semi-final game will be held on July 9, tipping off at 7pm. – James Kon
