Defending champions D’Barkadz stuttered at the start of their title defence of the You-C1000 Cup 2024 following a 90-82 loss to TK Teahouse at the Brunei Basketball Association Court in Batu Bersurat last night.
TK Teahouse player Jauhali was the star of the show after registering a haul of 27 points, making him the highest scorer of the game.
Elvin Requintin was influential in the victory after bagging a personal tally of 18 points while Baguidro added 17 points.
Meanwhile, D’Barkadz man Absar Salih Amin led his team with 25 points, with Jonathan Doles making a 16-point run and an uncharacteristic Jomarie Corpuz with a meagre haul of 14 points.
The win put TK Teahouse at the top of Group ‘A’ and sent their rivals a signal of intent on winning the title.
In an earlier tip-off, Propel Services and Trading got off to a positive start in Group ‘C’ following a 86-69 win over Linktech.
The month-long tournament features 22 teams, with 15 competing in the men’s category and seven in the women’s category.
