Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim dines with Malaysian diaspora in Brunei

It was a memorable evening for the Malaysian diaspora in the Sultanate as they were invited to a dinner reception in conjunction with the official visit of Malaysian Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim at the Malaysian High Commission in Brunei Darussalam at the Diplomatic Enclave last night.

The Malaysian Premier was accompanied by his wife Dato’ Seri Dr Wan Azizah Dr Wan Ismail, Foreign Affairs Minister Dato’ Seri Diraja Dr Zambry bin Abdul Kadir, Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Datuk Patinggi Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Abang Haji Openg, Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hajiji Haji Noor, and Foreign Affairs Secretary General Dato’ Sri Amran Mohamed Zin.

On arrival, Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim and delegation were welcomed by Malaysian High Commissioner to Brunei Darussalam Dato’ Raja Reza bin Raja Zaib Shah and spouse as well as senior officials at the High Commission.

The event began with welcoming remarks by Dato’ Raja Reza followed with speeches by the Malaysian Foreign Minister, Sabah Chief Minister and Sarawak Premier and finally the Malaysian Prime Minister, which ended with a question and answer session.

Malaysian news agency Bernama reported that Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s audience with His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam this morning will follow with a meeting where the two leaders are expected to assess the progress of ongoing cooperation, towards strengthening relations and ties between the two countries.

His Majesty and Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim will also witness the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) and the Brunei Investment Agency (BIA), reported Bernama.
