History has been made when a date tree typically available only in the Middle East was successfully grown at Rashidah Sa’adatul Bolkiah Mosque in Kampong Sungai Akar.

Mosque Takmir committee member Haji Abdul Samad bin Haji Abdul Rahman said an anonymous worshipper who returned from Umrah/Haj donated dates to the mosque during the breaking of fast to mark Ashura Day on the 10th of Muharram 1441 Hijrah.

“The date was planted after Subuh prayer and the recitation of Surah Al-Waqi’ah to seek for abundance of wealth. Of all the date seeds thrown after the breaking of fast, one tree managed to grow,” he said.
