Recognising what to learn from optimal digitalisation by correlating data and what is gained is key in taking advantage of digital transformation.

This was highlighted by Digitalisation Manager at Brunei Shell Petroleum Company Sdn Bhd (BSP) Hajah Sofiah binti Haji Umar in her talk titled “Digitalisation Journey” which took place yesterday as part of the Brunei Mid-Year Conference and Exhibition 2022 (Brunei MYCE 2022) held at the International Convention Centre, Berakas.

She said that digital solutions are used to address business problems efficiently, by making work faster, better and cheaper.

Sofiah said that by leveraging digital transformation, companies are able to achieve outstanding, sustained performance.

She cited some examples, such as the use of automation to complete tedious and repetitive work.

With data more accessible, artificial intelligence can also be used both to predict outcomes thus be used as a tool for problem solving.

The speaker stressed the importance of correlating and studying data collected and what companies can learn and make use from it.

The manager stated that with the correct correlated data they are able to predict when a machine will break down, a crucial element when it comes to the oil and gas industry.
