Cultural performances dazzle shoppers

TRADITIONAL Chinese dance and performances wowed shoppers and visitors at KB Sentral Shopping Centre as KB Sentral celebrated the Chinese New Year on Thursday at its ground floor main atrium.

Vice President of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce, Belait District Ng Ah Heng was the guest of honour.

Other invited guests included prominent figures from several Chinese associations and communities in the Belait District such as the Hakka Association, Tai Poo Association, Foochow Association and Hainan Association.

They were welcomed by General Manager of KB Sentral Abby Lim.

Principal of Chung Hua Middle School Jaime Lim Siew Lee and Area Manager of Jaya Hypermart, KB Sentral Pong Chin Kiang were also present.

Chung Hua Middle School took part in the celebration by showcasing a series of Chinese Martial Arts, wushu and Chinese cultural dances by its students.

Quizzes were held for members of the public in between the performances, and those who answered correctly received red packets or ang pao specially prepared by KB Sentral.

The celebration ended on a high note with the guest of honour and guests participating in the Yee Sang toss accompanied by balloon crackers.

The guest of honour also received a gift of appreciation for attending the event.

A Chinese mascot gave away Mandarin oranges and red packets to KB Sentral shoppers to commemorate the occasion.
