HIS Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah ibni His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office, and the Patron of the National Executive Committee for the 72nd birthday celebration of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, yesterday attended its second meeting at the Prime Minister’s Office in Jalan Perdana Menteri.
His Royal Highness was greeted by Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Lela Cheteria Sahibun Najabah Pengiran Anak Haji Abdul Aziz bin Pengiran Jaya Negara Pengiran Haji Abu Bakar, the Chief of Adat Istiadat Negara and Advisor to the National Executive Committee; and Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong, the Minister of Home Affairs and Chairman of the National Executive Committee. His Royal Highness then posed for a group photo with members of the National Executive Committee.
In his speech, Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Haji Awang Abu Bakar said that His Royal Highness’ attendance demonstrated attentiveness and commitment as Patron of the National Committee.
“This is particularly true, with regard to the preparations for the events, specifically the highly anticipated get-together ceremony with citizens and residents, in pledging their undivided loyalty to His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam,” he said.
The meeting featured a report of the preparations in progress, as well as the dates of the main events.
On July 14, a Doa Kesyukuran event, along with mass Maghrib prayers and recitations of the Surah Yaasiin and the Doa Tahlil, will be held in all mosques, suraus and religious halls across the country, with the Jame’ ‘Asr Hassanil Bolkiah in Kampong Kiarong as the main focus.
On July 15, the ceremonial parade will take place at the Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien in the capital, followed with the audience and investiture ceremony at Istana Nurul Iman.
The much-anticipated get-together ceremony with citizens and residents will commence in the Tutong District on July 19, followed by similar gatherings in the Belait District on July 21, Temburong District on July 24 and the Brunei-Muara District on July 29.
On August 2, a Khatam Al-Quran ceremony for mukim and village consultative council members, together with school students, will be held at the Istana Nurul Iman; and the Regatta 2018 has been scheduled for August 12.
