COVID tally passes 10,000 mark

Brunei Darussalam registered a record high of 423 new COVID-19 cases yesterday bringing the national tally of confirmed cases to 10,251.

This was announced by Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar during the daily press conference yesterday.

The minister said, “There are 67 additional cases to 20 existing clusters. Four new clusters were detected where all are housing clusters including Swee Sdn Bhd Cluster and Nurisman Sdn Bhd Cluster with company housing.

“There are now 170 active clusters and 194 new cases being investigated to determine the sources of infection.

“One hundred and eighty-four cases have recovered today bringing the total number of recoveries to 7,682 while total active cases are 2,501.

“Six cases are in Category 5 and receiving treatment at the intensive care unit requiring artificial ventilation with two cases requiring the help of additional heart-lung machine (ECMO).

“Twenty-nine cases are categorised in Category 4 requiring oxygen assistance and are under close monitoring.

“In the past 24 hours, 6,203 samples were tested for the SARS-CoV-2 virus bringing the total number of laboratory tests conducted since January 2020 to 431,203.”
