COVID relief fund dismantled

Izah Azahari

The COVID-19 Relief Fund will be closed on June 15 after taking into account the end of the Early Endemic Phase on May 31, and with the Sultanate taking rein of the outbreak.

Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah announced this and provided other updates during the daily press conference yesterday.

He said the COVID-19 allowance for frontline personnel was discontinued on June 1. However, volunteers will continue to receive the allowance.

Food aid will only be provided to BruHealth purple-coders who have submitted an application. This comes following the change in health protocols that allows for red-coded individuals to leave home, on condition they test COVID-negative and upload the results onto the BruHealth app.

Effective June 13, the daily Ministry of Health (MoH) press conference will be held weekly, on Mondays. A daily COVID-19 information dashboard will be released on the MoH website and other platforms to keep the public updated.
