COVID death toll climbs to 38

Brunei Darussalam yesterday recorded three COVID-19 deaths raising the toll in the Sultanate to 38.

Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar announced this at the press conference yesterday.

He said, “By the will of Allah the Almighty and with a heavy heart, the Ministry of Health (MoH) informs the public that four COVID-19 confirmed cases have returned to the grace and mercy of Allah the Almighty.

“Case 7766 was a 51-year-old man and Case 7299 was a 82-year-old woman who passed away due to lung problems after being infected with COVID-19. Case 3000 was a 40-year-old man and Case 4043 was a 70-year-old woman with multiple health issues. Their passing are not categorised as being COVID-19 related.

“Meanwhile, the cause of death for Case 6997 who was previously under investigation has been confirmed as death due to the COVID-19 infection,” the minister said.

“On behalf of the MoH and the people of Brunei Darussalam, I wish to convey my deepest condolences to their families.

“May their souls receive blessings from Allah the Almighty, and they be placed among the pious,” he added.
