COVID death toll climbs to 21

Brunei Darussalam recorded one death yesterday, bringing the total of COVID-related casualties in the country to 21.

The news was announced by Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar at the daily press conference yesterday.

Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Health (MoH) Haji Maswadi bin Haji Mohsin was also present.

Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham said, “The MoH wishes to inform the public that one confirmed case of COVID-19 has passed away.

“Case 867 was a 73-year-old woman who suffered from a lung infection, after being infected with COVID-19. The case was admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) at the National Isolation Centre (NIC), as she required the assistance of artificial ventilation.

“To protect and respect the privacy, as well as the confidentiality of the case’s family, the MoH will not share her personal details.

“The public is also requested to show respect, and not to disseminate information relating to the case.”
