The COVID-19 Relief Fund has raised almost BND13 million since its establishment in 2020, with auditing completed.

Minister of Health Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar said this at the fifth day of the 18th Legislative Council (LegCo) meeting yesterday, in response to a proposal by LegCo member Yang Berhormat Ong Tiong Oh to have the fund’s usage details published for the public.

The minister said the money collected through the first COVID-19 Relief Fund had been allocated towards building the National Isolation Centre extension at the Pengiran Muda Mahkota Pengiran Muda Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah (PMMPMHAMB) Hospital in the Tutong District.

“The second COVID-19 Relief Fund is still open,” he said, adding that “once it is closed, it will be audited and the public will also be informed of where the money has been channelled to.
Meanwhile, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah shared that the second COVID-19 Relief Fund has collected approximately BND3.27 million.

The minister said the first COVID-19 Relief Fund was audited in 2020 by the Auditor General, who noted that “the audit was in order”.
