COVID-19: Fifth day in a row with no new cases

Brunei Darussalam’s tally for confirmed COVID-19 cases remains at 138 with no cases being reported in the country for the past five days including yesterday.

Four recovered patients who tested positive again have fully recovered with no similar new cases being reported.

Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar revealed the details during the daily press conference at the Al-‘Afiah Hall of the Ministry of Health (MoH) yesterday.

“Alhamdulillah, by the grace of Allah the Almighty, no new COVID-19 case has been reported in the country. The total number of COVID-19 cases in Brunei Darussalam remains at 138,” Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham said.

The minister said one more case recovered and the number of recoveries stands
at 120.

This brings the number of active cases being treated at the National Isolation Centre (NIC) to 17 where two are in a critical condition and require heart/lung machine (ECMO) and respiratory assistance. The rest are in a stable condition, he said. Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham said 134 individuals are under quarantine in accordance to the Infectious Diseases Act (Chapter 204) and 2,430 individuals have completed the quarantine.

He said in the past 24 hours, 340 samples have been tested for the SARS-CoV2 virus bringing the total number of laboratory tests conducted since January to 12,770. With regard to the cases that have recovered but found to be positive again during a follow-up examination, the minister pointed out that four cases recovered and no new such case was detected yesterday. This brings the total number of such cases as of today to 21 of which 10 are still undergoing examination and testing.
