Course prepares scout leaders for the future

The Belait District Scout Association (PPDB) in collaboration with the National Scouts Training Team, Brunei Darussalam Scout Association (PPNBD) and the Co-Curriculum Education Department of the Ministry of Education (MoE), organised a General Information Course for scouts held at Sungai Tali Primary School, Lumut II yesterday.

A total of 24 of assistant scout leaders from St Margaret’s School, St James’ School, Belait Arabic School, Kuala Belait PGGMB School, Lumut Primary School, Sungai Tali Primary School, Anthony Abell College and adult scout members of PPDB, Tutong District Scout Association (PPDT) and the Brunei-Muara District Scouts Association (PPDBM) attended the course. This is the third year the course was held by the PPDB.

PPNBD Programme Commissioner Junaidi bin Haji Hussin, Secretary of the National Scouts Training Team Zainudin bin Haji Ishak, Scouting Coach Haji Othman bin Durani and Acting Scouts Commissioner of the Belait District Mohamad Hatta bin Haji Suhaili participated.

The event was conducted in support of PPNBD’s vision of having 5,000 members by 2024.

Topics discussed included flag ceremonies, the mission, vision and history of scouts, general overview of the national, regional and international scout movement. Participants also learnt leadership skills through the scouts leader training scheme and their achievements were awarded with progress and efficiency badges.
