Counsellors play a vital role in helping today’s generation to have a quality life.

This was underscored by PERKAB President Major (Rtd) Rusli bin Bujang at the opening ceremony of the 3rd National Counselling Convention 2019 yesterday, in his capacity as the Chairperson of the organising committee.

He urged counsellors to continuously upgrade their knowledge to tackle mental, emotion or psychological issues in the society.

In the context of Brunei Darussalam, the counsellor must follow the Malay Islamic Monarchy (MIB) concept and Zikir Nation and leave aside whichever theory or ethics that are contradictory, said Major (Rtd) Rusli.

Only Islam is able to save, respond and treat and recover the social and moral crisis today, including humanitarian and social interaction ties that is being pushed away due to the use of social media, he said.

The PERKAB President said that the preparedness of an individual to get counselling service must be seen as a positive action.
