Mental health and counselling strategies were discussed over the course of the National Counselling Conference and Exhibition 2022 (NICHE 2022) which ended recently.
The three-day event, themed ‘Divine Vaccine Overcoming Uncertainty’ was organised by the KUPU SB Faculty of Education and the Brunei Darussalam Counselling Association.
KUPU SB Ra’es Dr Haji Adanan bin Haji Basar was the guest of honour at the closing ceremony.
President of the Indonesian Association of Guidance and Counselling (PABKI) Dr H Aep Kusnawan delivered a keynote on ‘Divine Vaccine Overcoming Uncertainty: Integration of Transformation in the Spirit of Dakwah Counselling Post-Covid-19’.
Three presenters delivered their paperwork based on the theme ‘Family Counselling, Household, Adolescent and Children.
Dr Nur Khairunisa binti Haji Ismail presented a paper on ‘Exploratory study among divorced Brunei single mothers: Challenges and coping strategies’.
Abdul Hakim bin Omar shared a presentation on ‘Stress amongst upper secondary students in Brunei Darussalam’ while Hajah Norajleen Uminatul Hafizan binti Haji Aliman touched on ‘Prevalence and risk factors of peripartum depression in Brunei’.
The final day of NICHE 2022 also saw a panel deliberate on the theme of the conference.
