Enforcement officers from the Royal Customs and Excise Department confiscated a haul of contraband in a series of operations conducted on November 23 and 24 targetting three locations in the Brunei-Muara District.
On November 23, the team apprehended a foreign man and a woman aged 36 and 46 at a house in Kampong Panchor Murai believed to be involved in selling of contraband.
Law enforcers found 446 cartons, six packets and six sticks of cigarettes of various brands along with BND3,555 believed to be proceeds from the sale of contraband.
The following day, the operation was conducted in a wooded area at Kampong Sungai Bunga and found 83 cartons, 10 packets and 20 sticks of cigarettes.
On the same day, the Customs enforcement team conducted an operation at STKRJ Kampong Lambak Kiri and apprehended two local men, aged 28 and 38, who were found in possession of 174 cartons of cigarettes of various brands.
The enforcement team also confiscated a car and BND28,486 believed to be proceeds from the sale of contraband. The contraband was confiscated and individuals involved were taken to the Customs enforcement office for investigation.
