On this auspicious occasion of the 36th National Day of Brunei Darussalam, on behalf of the Chinese Embassy in Brunei Darussalam and in my own name, I would like to express my warmest congratulations and best wishes to His Majesty as well as the Government and people of Brunei.

Over the past 36 years of independence, under the leadership of His Majesty, Brunei has enjoyed political harmony, economic prosperity and social stability.

Brunei Darussalam has also played a constructive role in international and regional affairs. I believe Brunei will have a better tomorrow.

The friendship between China and Brunei dates back to ancient times. In recent years, bilateral relations have been developing rapidly.

Mutual trust, cooperation and exchanges in the political, economic, cultural and other fields between the two countries have been continuously deepened.

At present, the Chinese Government and people are fighting the outbreak of COVID-19.

On behalf of the Government and people of Brunei Darussalam, His Majesty expressed sincere condolence to the Chinese Government and its people, and supported and appreciated the measures taken by China to curb the outbreak.

We express our sincere gratitude to the Government and people of Brunei for their support at this difficult time. We were touched by the concern and support extended.

The Chinese people have the ability and confidence to overcome the outbreak. I believe that with the joint efforts by China and Brunei and the support of the two peoples, China-Brunei relations will surely become better and better in the years to come.

May His Majesty enjoy good health, may Brunei Darussalam enjoy greater prosperity, and its people happiness and well-being.

Ambassador of Thailand to Brunei Darussalam, Wanthanee Viputwongsakul

On the auspicious occasion of the 36th National Day of Brunei Darussalam, I have the greatest honour and pleasure to convey on behalf of the Royal Thai Government, the Thai people and the Thai community in Brunei Darussalam, our warmest congratulations to His Majesty, the Brunei Government and the people of Brunei Darussalam.

Today is a very significant and meaningful day for all citizens and residents of Brunei who have enjoyed progress and development of the nation in many aspects, under the wise and benevolent leadership of His Majesty.

I take this opportunity to also express my sincere best wishes for the successful accomplishment of the Brunei Vision 2035, which is manifested in the National Day celebration, year after year, symbolic of the nation’s commitment and determination in attaining its long-term development goals.

Thailand will remain steadfast in enhancing bilateral relations with Brunei in areas of mutual interest in line with both the Brunei Vision 2035 and Thailand’s 20-Year National Strategy.

Ever since the establishment of our diplomatic relations in 1984 our two countries have together forged closer bilateral cooperation in various fields such as agriculture, defence, economic, education, and health as well as in the field of information and broadcasting.

Thailand also attaches great importance in deepening people-to-people exchange at all levels as the foundation to achieve closer cooperation as well as boosting trade and investment activities between our two countries.

I am looking forward to working closely with our Bruneian counterparts to further enhance our bilateral relations when the Joint Commission on Bilateral Cooperation (JCBC) Meeting take place later this year in Brunei Darussalam.

As the nation celebrates this joyous occasion, I present my sincerest wishes for the continued peace, happiness and prosperity to the people of Brunei Darussalam. Happy 36th National Day!

Bangladesh High Commissioner to Brunei Darussalam, Air Vice Marshal (Rtd) Mahmud Hussain

Bangladesh President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina conveyed their heartiest congratulations to His Majesty on the occasion of the 36th National Day of Brunei Darussalam. All Bangladeshis, from home and abroad, send their warm greetings to Bruneians. I am happy to convey the deepest feelings of love and affection on behalf of expatriate Bangladeshis to our Bruneian friends.

Brunei and Bangladesh’s relations are strengthening by the day. Last year, Sheikh Hasina made her first Official Visit to Brunei, while His Majesty’s first ever state visit to Bangladesh is scheduled for April 2020.

His Majesty’s visit will be a historic event because this year Bangladesh is also celebrating the 100th birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

During Sheikh Hasina’s visit, both countries signed six government-to-government and three private-to-private Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) covering agriculture, livestock, fisheries, youth, sports, energy, Halal products and geo-seismic cooperation.

These days, many Bruneians have started visiting Bangladesh for commercial and trade opportunities. Bangladesh is one of the fastest growing economies in the world. Brunei can benefit a lot by both investing in and from Bangladesh. One of the future prospects for both countries lies in establishing direct air links to facilitate transshipment of goods and people.

Both Brunei and Bangladesh share many commonalities. The Brunei Vision-2035 and Bangladesh’s Vision-2030 are strategic programmes focussed towards achieving Sustainable Development Goals.

We wish for continued progress, prosperity and well-being of our Bruneian friends. I personally wish on behalf of the large population of expatriate Bangladeshis, a very prosperous, happy and joyful National Day celebration to all Bruneians.

Long live Brunei-Bangladesh friendship.

Ambassador of Timor-Leste to Brunei Darussalam, Marcal Avelino Ximenes

On behalf of the Embassy of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste in Brunei Darussalam, I congratulate His Majesty and the people of Brunei on the occasion of the 36th National Day of Brunei Darussalam.

The grandeur of this celebration shows how Brunei has carried out its development as set out in the Brunei Vision 2035 and Development Plan under the leadership of His Majesty.

I hope that with this National Day celebration, the people of Brunei will continue to remain determined, enthusiastic about the future and prosperous. My hope is that good relations between Timor-Leste and Brunei will continue to be well-established in the future.

Happy celebrating, long live the Kingdom of Brunei Darussalam.

Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Brunei Darussalam, Dr Sujatmiko

On the auspicious occasion of the 36th National Day of Brunei Darussalam, I would like to express, on behalf of the Government and people of the Indonesia, and on my own behalf, our heartfelt felicitations to His Majesty and the Government and people of Brunei Darussalam.

I am greatly heartened to witness that after 36 years of independence, Brunei Darussalam continues to achieve great strides in the advancement and prosperity of its people.

Brunei Darussalam continues to maintain and improve conducive and favourable business climate, proven by its rank as one of the top 10 performing Islamic Finance Markets in 2019. Brunei also continues to build major infrastructure works to enhance the quality of life of its people and generate growth, such as the Temburong Bridge.

On a bilateral level, I am most encouraged to observe that warm and cordial relations between our two countries, and people continue to be further strengthened.

His Majesty’s presence at the Inauguration Ceremony of President Joko Widodo in Jakarta on October 20, 2019, and the support accorded by Brunei Darussalam that led to the endorsement and adoption of the ASEAN Outlook on the Indo-Pacific at the 34th ASEAN Summit in Bangkok in June 2019, attest to this amicability.

As ambassador, I am committed to further strengthening our bonds of friendship and expanding our bilateral relations in all domains.

In a bid to achieve food security and self-sufficiency in rice production, Indonesian and Bruneian agencies have successfully developed the Sembada 188, a high-yield paddy seed variety.

I am, therefore, elated to learn that its harvest at the Kandol rice farm on February 8, 2020 was significantly above expectations, adding more success stories after the 200-hectare paddy fields in Wasan were harvested by His Majesty in early 2019.

In the health sector, Brunei and Indonesia signed, on July 9, 2019, a Plan of Action for cooperation in the exchange of information and joint research on health and medicine.

In the transportation sector, we shall soon witness a historic breakthrough with the establishment of a direct shipping line from Jakarta to the Muara Port.

Meanwhile, in the education sector, our two countries enjoy intense and friendly cooperation, with more than 107 MoUs signed between Bruneian and Indonesian universities.

I am confident that with hard work, relations between our two countries will flourish in the future and bring progress and prosperity to our two nations.

In conclusion, I would like to once again convey our congratulatory wishes to His Majesty, the Government and people of Brunei Darussalam.

May Allah the Almighty bless His Majesty with good health and wisdom to guide the nation with vision and benevolence.

May the people of Brunei Darussalam be showered with continued peace, harmony, and prosperity, and may Allah the Almighty bestow His blessings upon our two brotherly nations.

High Commissioner of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to Brunei Darussalam, Major General (Rtd) Abdul Aziz Tariq

On the auspicious occasion of the 36th National Day of Brunei Darussalam, I express heartiest felicitations to His Majesty and the brotherly people of Brunei Darussalam, on behalf of the Government and people of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

During the last 36 years, Brunei Darussalam has made tremendous progress in every field of national development under the sagacious leadership of His Majesty. Over the years, Brunei Darussalam’s role towards regional and extra-regional peace and stability has remained commendable.

On the domestic front, the people of Brunei are fortunate to benefit from the benevolence of His Majesty – having access to free education and health, including subsidised fuel, electricity and food. To a large extent, their housing needs are also served and to top it all, their lives and property have assured security.

Pakistan and Brunei Darussalam enjoy brotherly relations in several fields, including political, trade and investment, education and defence. The depth of these relations is manifested in a number of bilateral agreements, institutional mechanisms, exchange of high level visits and cooperation at multilateral forums between the two countries.

Both the Government and people of Pakistan hold His Majesty and the people of Brunei Darussalam in high esteem. Pakistani expatriates are contributing in the development of this brotherly country in health, education and trade. I once again avail this opportunity to felicitate the Government of His Majesty and its people on the occasion of the 36th National Day and convey my best wishes and assurances for the continued enhancement of Pakistan-Brunei relations.

Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to Brunei Darussalam, Sheikh Ahmed bin Hashel bin Rashed bin Hashel Al-Maskari

On the occasion of the 36th National Day of Brunei Darussalam, it is my honour to extend, on behalf of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq Al Said, the Sultan of the Sultanate of Oman, the warmest congratulations and best wishes to His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, members of the royal family, the Brunei Government and its people.

Under the reign of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, Brunei has enjoyed lasting peace and achieved significant and exemplary progress in many areas, including education, health, and economy.

The example of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s leadership, accomplishments and love for his people will always remain as a source of inspiration not only within Brunei and the region, but the world at large.

The Sultanate of Oman is proud of its cordial relationship with Brunei Darussalam for the last 36 years.

The thriving bilateral relations between our two brotherly countries have witnessed practical manifestations in many fields of cooperation.

Last year, Oman was privileged to be the first country ever to be invited as a guest of honour at the Brunei Book Fair, since it was inaugurated almost two decades ago.

In addition to that and in keeping with the embassy’s efforts to promote the Omani culture and scientific heritage in Brunei Darussalam, a fourth Omani Publications Corner named after Ibn Al-Thahabi, a well-known Omani scholar containing over 180 books was launched at the Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) library in October 2019.

Furthermore, in line with the embassy’s efforts to make the most of the Bruneians admiration for Arabic Language, a fifth batch consisting of four teachers from the Ministry of Religious Affairs studied Arabic Language for eight weeks during the course of last year at Sultan Qaboos College for Teaching Arabic Language to Non-Native Speakers.

Defence cooperation is another dimension of Brunei-Oman bilateral relation. In July 2019, the Commander of Royal Brunei Land Force paid a working visit to the Sultanate of Oman.

In addition, both countries’ armed forces regularly participate in command and staff courses and other military events and trainings in Oman and Brunei Darussalam.

Oman and Brunei Darussalam have also maintained strong cooperation in economic investments over the past several years.

The State General Reserve Fund (SGRF) of the Sultanate of Oman and Brunei Investment Agency (BIA) have agreed to increase the capital of Oman Brunei Investment Company (OBIC) by another USD100 million, thus, bringing the total capital of the company to USD200 million.

The agreement was signed on the sidelines of the 19th Bilateral Consultative Meeting (BCM) that took place between the Sultanate of Oman and Brunei Darussalam Ministries of Foreign Affairs, in Muscat on December 9, 2019.

The bonds of friendship between our two countries remain as strong as ever and we are confident that with the outstanding leadership of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and His Majesty Sultan Haitham, the close cooperation between Oman-Brunei will be further enhanced in the decades ahead.

Once again, I wish all the best to His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, members of the royal family and the Brunei people.
