Condition of two rescued elephants at Thai park improving

BANGKOK (Bernama) – The condi-tion of the two wild elephants – a mother and her calf – rescued at Khao Yai National Park in central Thailand last Saturday is improving.

Thailand’s National Resources and Environment Minister Varawut Silpa-archa said the two elephants, which were rescued on the cliff side of the waterfall at about 3.30pm last Saturday, are undergoing rehabilitation from dehydration and inanition.

He said the Department of National Park, Wildlife and Plant Conservation had been instructed to speed up the installation of fencing along the Haew Narok Waterfall in the national park to prevent animals from falling into the waterfall in future.
