Concern on road users using phones while driving

I would like to raise my concern on the use of mobile phones by motorists while driving.

I recently witnessed a cyclist, with his back to the traffic and hands off the handlebars, messaging on the phone.

It is also very common to see drivers using their phones at traffic lights or during traffic jams.

This can be dangerous as having your eyes on the phone, even for a second, and away from the road can be fatal. In the United Kingdom, using your phone while driving is a GBP200 fine and a six point deduction from your driver’s license.

Drivers there are also advised to put their phones in the glove compartment so that they would not use it without stopping.

Perhaps we should have the authorities do that here.
