Competition winners bag cash prizes, vouchers

Hajah Shaharan binti Dato Paduka Haji Abdul Wahab and Awangku Mohd Noor Sham @ Awangku Hidie bin Pengiran Hidup won first place in the Historical Poem Composition and Mini Fiction Writing e-literature activities, organised by the Language and Literature Bureau (DBP) through its Literature and Magazine Division.

Meanwhile, the Historical Poem Composition’s second place went to Serikartini binti Haji Omar, while second place for the Mini Fiction Writing went to Hajah Nur Hamizah binti Haji Samihon. Third places went to Hajah Maisalamah binti Rajab and Nur Dinani binti Mat Salleh.

The competition was held as an alternative method for literary enthusiasts to follow the development of the country’s literature.

DBP Acting Director Suip bin Haji Abdul Wahab awarded a cash prize, book purchase voucher and a one-year subscription to Bahana magazine to the winners.

Twenty-one participated in the Historical Poem Composition, while 14 participated in the Mini Fiction Writing. The contest aimed to empower the Malay Language as the official language in the country and support DBP’s vision of expanding communication network with community – especially its social media followers, and producing new talents, especially young writers.
