A local company was slapped with a BND200 compound fine by the Enforcement Unit of the Tutong District Office for littering in public areas, violating the Miscellaneous Offences Act (Amendment) 2021.

The company was given seven days to settle the fine.

Failure to settle the fine will lead to the company being brought to court and may face a BN2,000 fine and not exceeding BND10,000 for the first offence and a fine of at least BND10,000 and no more than BND30,000, imprisonment of no more than 12 months, or both, for subsequent offences.

The Enforcement Unit of the Tutong District Office also reminded the public, companies and commercial premise owners to maintain cleanliness, to not litter or throw any rubbish in public areas.
