The Department of Environment, Parks and Recreation (JASTRe) issued a BND500 fine to a local company yesterday for disposing unwanted construction materials at a public area in Kampong Mumong, Kuala Belait.
The fine was issued was under – Chapter 30 Section 12(1)(f)(ii) – of the Miscellaneous Offences Act and the company was given seven days to settle it. Failure to do so will result in the case being forwarded to the courts.
If found guilty, the company will be handed a fine no less than BND2,000 and no more than BND10,000 while subsequent offences will see a penalty of no less than BND10,000 and no more than BND30,000, or imprisonment of no more than 12 months, or both.
