A local company found disposing rubbish in a public area was slapped with a BND1,000 compound fine by Tutong District Office’s enforcement unit.
The company was ordered to settle the compound fine within seven days. Failure to do so will result in the matter being brought to court. If found guilty, the offender can face a fine of between BND2,000 and BND10,000 for the first offence.
For a subsequent offence, the offender may face a fine of between BND10,000 and BND30,000, imprisonment of no more than 12 months, or both.
The Tutong District Office reminded the public to maintain the cleanliness of public spaces. – James Kon
