A company operating in Kampong Kiulap was ordered to settle a BND3,330 fine or its director would have to serve three months’ jail in default of payment after the establishment was found operating a barbershop and a hairdressing and beauty salon with expired licences and allowing a male employee to treat a female client.
Meanwhile, an establishment conducting an aerobics class at Kampong Serusop even after the licence had expired, was ordered to settle a BND1,000 fine. Failing which will lead to its director serving a month’s jail.
Magistrate Mohammad Marzuqi bin Sabtu heard from the prosecution that municipal enforcement officers conducted routine inspections when they came across the two health and beauty establishments carrying out services even after the licences had expired.
