A FOREIGN citizen and three companies were issued with compound fines yesterday, for the illegal disposal of waste in public areas.
Kasikun, an Indonesian citizen, was issued with a compound fine of BND300, for leaving construction waste at a public area in Kiulap, a violation under Chapter 30, Section 12 (1)(d) of the Minor Offences Act.
CJ Auto Parts and Engineering Works Sdn Bhd was issued with a compound fine of BND200 for placing used boxes in a public area in Kampong Telanai, a violation under Chapter 30, Section 12 (1)(a) of the Minor Offences Act.
Jaffar Ali Sdn Bhd and Takiding Emas Sdn Bhd were fined BND500 each for the illegal disposal of waste in Jalan Wasai Limuru at RPN Kampong Meragang and Jalan Kustin in Berakas.
Any individual or business company found guilty of disposing unwanted items in a public place will be issued with a compound fine of not more than BND500. Failure to pay the fine so will result in a further fine of BND1,000 for first-time offenders.
For repeat offences, the penalty is a fine of BND3,000 and prison term of not more than three months.
Members of the public and business owners are again reminded to adhere to the stipulated regulations in maintaining standards of hygiene and cleanliness.
